No more cranky toddlers, harried parents and boring layovers — thank to British Airways and leading British children’s brand, My 1st Years, seven lounges in Heathrow and Gatwick will be child-entertainment havens.
While parents relax, children can ride on mini aeroplanes, have a pre-flight jam on a range of musical instruments or cook up a storm in the mini kitchens.
Youngsters travelling through Heathrow over selected dates in July and August will also be given a limited edition My 1st Years centenary backpack featuring a bespoke British Airways design.
These “My 1st Years Kids Zones” are part of a GBP £6.5b (approx. R125b) investment for British Airways’ Centenary year, according to a news release from the airline. The company will also be introducing new aircraft, cabins, catering, lounges, WiFi, and routes over the next five years.
British Airways’ New York JFK Terminal 7 will be the next lounge to open under the new design concept, with improvements being made there to the customer experience at check-in. The airline also has further investment planned in Geneva, San Francisco, Johannesburg, Chicago and its lounges at Heathrow.
